Kitchen Remodeling To Reflect Your Personality
Filed Under Articles | Comments Off
It’s a new trend to decorate the home adopting a different theme for each room reflecting the character of the family or the family member occupying that room. Next time you remodel your home you will probably follow this trend. The kitchen is an area of the home where most of the family spends most of their time. Naturally then the mood of the kitchen should reflect the mood of the family.
It is when a family goes on a vacation that the entire family spends maximum time together and enjoys it; naturally for a long time after returning from the vacation, the family still lingers in that vacation spirit. Why not live those memories of the vacation and extend that lingering spirit allowing kitchen remodeling to reflect the atmosphere of the last vacation spot? You can always recreate a bit of the South Seas beaches or the Caribbean calypso mood to remind you of the joyous time you had together there every time you gather in the kitchen
If your family enjoys time in the countryside and surroundings, you could easily recreate a bit of that countryside living by transporting yourselves to those forgotten times in the remodeled kitchen. Use old crates for wall shelves, or old metal sign replicas in the kitchen remodeling themes. Let your way of life, your personality show through in the kitchen décor.
Involve your personality in kitchen remodeling
When roaming around the flea market or attending a garage sale, you often pick up something that takes your fancy. You may not have any use for it at that time, so it goes into storage. You collected these things because something about them appealed to you. If you pull out such items from storage, you would probably find ways to use them in kitchen decorating; such a remodeled kitchen will give you more pleasure because your personality would be involved into it through those items.
Quite often while remodeling a part of the house, people think of what is trendy - antique, contemporary or modern. But these trends might not have a link with your own personality. If you love the old world antique charm, why force yourself into a mismatch with your personality and choose the modern theme or anything like that because it is trendy? You have to live with that décor; then why not choose a décor which makes you feel happy and energetic? When planning kitchen remodeling, remember that you are the one who will be using the room every day and living with the result. Choose something that pleases you, adds to the value of the home and don’t worry about what others think of your choice.
When it comes to the topic of resale value, you want your kitchen to look sharp as it’s an important feature of the house that buyers focus on. If you have decorated your kitchen in a fashion that you really enjoy, then you’re more likely to do a great job of it, which is going to be more attractive to buyers than a completely neutral kitchen without much decorating or personality. The bottom line is to make this family space a place where you want to spend your time.

Kitchen Remodeling Design Ideas and Considerations
Filed Under Articles | Comments Off
When considering the different aspects of kitchen remodeling design, you should be open to all the different ideas for planning and remodeling this area. Therefore, it is wise to make a list of the areas and items that you do not like about the existing kitchen while planning a kitchen remodel design.
Here are examples of kitchen remodeling design issues to address:
* Determine a kitchen remodel design budget, and then stick to it.
* What is the size of your family or number of people you plan to accommodate while entertaining?
* What is the number of cooks who will be using the same space?
* Consider the amount of preparation and counter space you need.
* Determine whether you have enough storage space.
* What about the replacement of some or all of your appliances?
* Consider the type of lighting you plan to use for most areas of your kitchen, whether it is natural or artificial.
* Consider the traffic flow and the work triangle, which is the most efficient distance between the oven, sink and refrigerator.
* You might consider adding or designing a kitchen island for storage, cleaning area and cook top or food preparation area.
* A kitchen remodeling design takes time and planning, so consider the type of pantry and cabinets you want and the types of materials used for the floors, countertops and backsplash.
Do you know that there are homeowners who do not cook but have a beautiful kitchen show place? Some families do a great deal of entertaining in this area that is the center of their homes. It may also function as their office, an after school work shop for homework as well as a place to cook and entertain family and friends.
Kitchen remodel designs today are more complex and expensive. The appearance of your kitchen can add to the value of your home or take away from it. However, this does not mean you have to spend $80,000 to create a beautiful and functional kitchen. When you live in an area that does not feature high-tech kitchens with large food preparation areas as well as expensive materials and finishes, it may not be wise to invest so much money on a kitchen remodeling design, since if you do sell your home, you may not get back your investment.
Most homes today feature an open plan design kitchen that provides good natural lighting. This way you, your family and friends can eat, drink, talk, watch television while preparing meals and enjoying the same open space. The most successful kitchen remodeling designs take into account various designing tips.
You do not have to spend an outrageous amount of money for a basic kitchen remodel design. For instance, when your cabinets are in good condition, you may consider staining or repainting them for a fresh appearance. It the cabinet boxes are in good shape, you might want to replace only the doors, the drawer fronts and hardware.
However, if the cabinets need replacing, there are many attractive, reasonably priced materials that can offer the special appearance you wish to create. Keep in mind that it can become very expensive when you remodel large rooms with custom cabinets made of exotic woods.
Your appliances should be energy efficient and of good quality. However, if you do not want to spend a lot of money, you can choose appliances that are all white, black or beige since they are both less expensive and just as attractive as stainless steel. Remember, a purchase of professional or commercial appliances of stainless steel will increase your budget total once you have determined the amount you want to spend per appliance and whether your existing appliances are reusable.
Always being mindful of your budget, you should know that hardwood flooring is more expensive than some tile or vinyl flooring. As long as you do not use such materials as stone, marble, granite, concrete and stainless steel, keep in mind that back splashes and countertops of more common materials will be cheaper. Rather than using imported or hand painted tiles which are expensive, choose the other types of budget friendly synthetic tiles that are both durable and beautiful.
Kitchen islands are wonderful sources for extra storage and preparation areas, with or without a sink, or you may consider installing a cook top. Consider what the available space will be, since a kitchen island does need a certain amount of space to be work efficient. For instance, when working with a small 3′ x 6′ island, you will require at least 130 square feet of floor space for the traffic flow around the island to function well, depending upon the size of the room.
No matter how simple or complex your kitchen remodeling design is, the kitchen can be useful for working on the computer, doing homework or gathering around your family and friends for eating and drinking.
Before beginning to do any work, it is a good idea to learn as much as you can about kitchen remodel design. Since the kitchen is the heart of any home and a special area, you want yours to perform its best for you now and in the future.

Kitchen Remodeling Ideas

Some people dream of sugar plums dancing in their head; some dream of myriads of flowers blowing in the wind, and others dream of completely renovating their kitchens. Does that sound weird? Anyway, all of the real cooks in the world would rather cook the sugar plums, use the flowers for decorations for their table, and have a kitchen that only appears in their wildest fantasies.
Since the beginning of time, the kitchen has been the center of the home. The kitchen provided warmth, food, and fellowship. Even in the tiniest hut, the kitchen is still everyone’s favorite room. Because the kitchen is the heart of the home, it should also be the best decorated and perfectly equipped room in the house. Unfortunately, most men build houses and have no idea what should really go into a dream kitchen. Women, of course, have input if they are buying a new home, but few if any women really know what they want in their new kitchen until they start cooking and realize what they are missing.
The Food Network had a few episodes about remodeling kitchens. Some of their superstar chefs were paired with homeowners who really needed a kitchen remodeling. I mean these kitchens were a real mess. All of these homeowners wanting their kitchens remodeled submitted video tapes which were judged. For instance, Paula Deen was paired with a couple who had a kitchen remodeling plan that was just a little bit country just like Paula. The completed kitchen remodeling design had elements of a modern kitchen with modern equipment with added touches to add that country look. The finished kitchen remodeling project was incredibly lovely. The kitchen was not the true center of that home. From a kitchen that was almost useless, this kitchen was now both useful and gorgeous.
If you are like most people and you don’t have a Food Network Superstar designing your kitchen, you should first do your homework. You might start with watching some of the Food Network shows. I am, among other things, a Food Network junkie. I love, love, love to watch cooking shows. Anyway, look at the kitchens used in the shows. Paula Deen’s cooking show is now filmed in her own kitchen in her new house. She created a kitchen that, not only fulfilled her needs as a Food Network cook, but her needs as a home cook as well. She has a built in deep fryer, an inside grill, and many other goodies we ordinary kitchen owners can only dream about.
There are many magazines dedicated to house design and kitchen remodeling. The Home and Garden show also helps people with their kitchen remodeling ideas. Of course, unless you are incredibly wealthy, you have to figure in your kitchen remodeling cost budget. You have to create a wish list for your kitchen remodeling dreams. You might have to do your kitchen remodeling piece by piece. Draw your dream kitchen, your kitchen remodeling floor plan, and write your kitchen remodeling plan. Then you can decide what changes you can make and what kitchen remodeling ideas you can begin with.
If you like a retro look, you might want to check out antique shops for your kitchen remodeling ideas. There are many stores that completely refinish old kitchen equipment so that you have some actual antique stoves, fridges, and other kitchen appliances. Of course, for people who like a more modern look, most any store will have what you want for your kitchen remodeling ideas.
If you have a small house, you can still remodel your kitchen. Focus on planning your kitchen remodeling ideas to fit your small kitchen needs. You might even want to buy smaller appliances to give you more room for kitchen cabinet remodeling. Most builders do not configure kitchen cabinets the same way a good cook would. For instance, why do they build kitchen cabinets so high? Most women never use the top cabinets for anything but items they never use. These top cabinets are wasted unless the cook is seven feet tall. When you do your kitchen remodeling, plan your cabinets to make them useful.
Unless you never cook, you probably walk into your kitchen every day and see what you would like to change. Change is possible if you create a kitchen remodeling plan, create a kitchen remodeling cost structure, and dream big. Make your kitchen inviting and a reflection of your personality.

Get Kitchen Remodeling Ideas: Quick and Cheap
Filed Under Articles | Comments Off
Renovating the kitchen in a home takes second place in the top remodeling projects taken on by homeowners, bathroom remodeling taking the first first place. A good remodeling of your kitchen can not only add a several thousand dollars to the value of your dwelling but it also lends it your personal touch. A lot of people find the preliminary part of the plan where they come up with creative kitchen remodeling ideas very interesting and implementing them can be quite easy provided you have appropriate resources.
• Word wide web: The Net is the simplest and quickest way to start research on your project; whether it is bathroom or kitchen remodeling or any other kind of modeling around the house.
• Home project books: There are a lot of good books that are devoted to assisting people in building a mental picture of their dream home. This kind of books keep you supplied with a lot of kitchen remodeling ideas as they include pictures as well as detailed descriptions of the procedures and products utilized.
• Consumer trade fairs: These are a great place to get exposed to the latest and best of home ideas and products. Because kitchens are most popular they are normally the center of attraction and you can collect plenty of practical kitchen remodeling ideas in a couple of hours spent at such a fair.
• Television programs: Programs which focus on remodeling and improvement of homes are growing extremely popular nowadays. These programs vary from DIY (do-it-yourself) projects to those that a home owner will get a contractor to implement. These TV programs normally touch on the budget levels too and quite a few even show you how to carry out well-designed kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling ideas at the lowest possible cost.
The good thing about a bathroom remodeling project is that most often you require at most two days to put your ideas into practice. Before you start out on this endeavor, you may want to think about a couple of choices to make it a successful project.
The first thing you ought to do is decide on the value of your master bathroom over the spare one used by your guests. Master bedrooms are mostly remodeled with additional style and comfort in mind. Once you decide on the difference in value for you between the two, you can then choose the kind of toilet, counter tops and flooring you might like to add to your plans of bathroom remodeling.
If you have decided to remodel your master bathroom, you should take into account the use of the shower and the tub. You might want to add some more space to put in a Jacuzzi tub or extend it for your very own sauna. If you are not interested in luxurious bathing then you might want to settle for granite counter tops along with some quaint lighting fixtures to decorate the room.
If you are considering remodeling your spare or guest bathroom which has to be clean, comfy and convenient for your guests to use, you might consider replacing the wash basin, counter tops and commode as part of your spare bathroom remodeling task. However, if you are on a tight budget, you could just put in some pretty wall paper and some shelves to store towels and other items so that your guests would have easy access to them and save them the embarrassment of asking you for additional toilet items.
Plan your bathroom remodeling and order the items you require before hand. When you have all the things, begin the project on a weekend and it should be over before you resume work on Monday.

Kitchen Remodeling Costs - A Handy DIY Review.
Filed Under Articles | Comments Off
Recently we had decided to do some home remodeling projects. While we all gathered together in our living room and took a glance through our kitchen, we decided that the best place to start would be the kitchen. For the most part of our time that we are home is spent in the kitchen especially with meal preparation, cleanup and eating. Besides it seems that guests tend to congregate in the kitchen area.
We started to research kitchen remodeling costs and promptly had to make some adjustments in our priorities as this was not going to be easy on the pocket. There are many hidden expenses when it comes to tallying up kitchen remodeling costs.
While talking to our local contractor, we were able to find out an estimate on having the remodeling professionally done. First he asked us to draw up a wish list of things that we wanted in the kitchen and to rank them accordingly in order from “have to have” to “it would be nice”. This was very useful because with kitchen remodeling costs as high as they are you can quickly pare down your wish list.
At the top of our wish list was to change our cabinets. The cabinets were very dark wood and made the kitchen appear small and closed in. In addition we also wanted to put a tile counter top on to match the tile on the floor. As for the window area by the sink, I wanted to expand it in order to allow more light in. We also wanted to remove the wallpaper and change out the exhaust hood above the stove. Our appliances were neutral colors and worked well; though my husband wanted to convert the electric range top from electric to gas. In spite of all the things we had decided upon on the list, we felt confident that we would have enough money in our savings account to handle all the kitchen remodeling costs.
However we were shocked when the estimate for the kitchen remodeling costs came in. Although we would have to take out a loan to complete everything that we had put on the wish list, we began to look at alternatives to keep down the kitchen remodeling costs. First we learnt how to the surface of the cabinets for painting. By painting the cabinets, for instance, an almond color made the kitchen look much brighter. We procured new hardware for the cabinets and the change was simply fantastic. In order to make the kitchen window area look larger I merely removed the curtain that I had hanging in it. Just by taking down the curtain during the painting project I discovered that without it there was more light in the room. Our counter top also looked revived with the lighter cabinets, so we kept it and put up a tile back splash instead. All this really proved to be cost effective and was a part of the remodeling that we could do on our own! Subsequently we got rid of the wallpaper and painted the walls a lemon yellow. In addition we replaced the exhaust fan with one in an almond color to match the cabinets. Today our kitchen not only looks beautiful but we have the satisfaction of completing the majority of the work ourselves and in turn were able to limit down our kitchen remodeling costs. We did not use the local contractor but he undoubtedly helped us have a new kitchen within our means.

Hiring a Contractor Vs. Diy: Why You Cannot Handle a Kitchen Remodeling Project
Filed Under Articles | Comments Off
Living in New York requires that you keep up with the pace of its amazingly fast, never ceasing and dazzling lifestyle. With all these to handle, allocating ample time to take care of your NYC home in terms of checking for wear and tear and what needs repair urgent or not is often left undone until such time that the damages are already in a state seemingly beyond repair. The hectic living also makes you want to create a comfort haven out of your cramped space making your apartment, condo unit or small townhouse a welcoming place to come home to. The perfect place to start your renovations is the heart of any home which is the kitchen. So when thinking of tackling a kitchen remodeling project, the big question always remains: Do I do it myself or hire an NYC contractor?
In NYC kitchen remodeling, the first consideration that may pass your mind when you decide to do things yourself is the cost of the project in dollar terms. What you did not realize is that the risks and the true cost of not letting professionals handle the task is a great deal higher. To start with, the very same reason that had you decide to do it yourself is also the ultimate risk posed. The smallest mistake in kitchen remodeling could cost you several times the amount that you saved from not hiring a contractor. Aside from the fact that you would still eventually end up hiring one to fix the home improvement error that you caused, the money spent on the materials would also be wasted. And it does not even end with the amount in dollars as the effort and time you spent on attempting to make the project work would also go to waste.
A kitchen remodeling project is not an easy task. Though you could always find some source on the Internet or a book on such topic, even if the ideas sound good, not all can be applied to specific home improvement circumstances. With a New York kitchen, space is the most common challenge. With this, the perfect solution would be focusing on storage to end up with a result that is both beautiful to look at as well as functional. Well you can be a great shopper and can find the perfect appliances and other kitchen accessories and features for the project. But can you handle the flooring, tiling, carpentry and lighting installation without any flaw?
Even if you already know a lot about New York kitchen remodeling and you have readily available home improvement skills which has come handy in small jobs, without any actual experience on this type of project, chances of creating results to your satisfaction could be slim. Planning and actually working on the project are two very different tasks.
No doubt, hiring the right NYC contractor to do the project for you is the best kitchen remodeling idea that you can ever put to practice. By doing so, you can be ensured of a more on-budget and on-time kitchen renovation job. With less risk on maintenance and backjobs, the time and money you will be saving would surely prove far from the costs you spend when doing things yourself. Aside from having to lavish at the new look and features of your newly remodeled NYC kitchen in the least possible time needed to finish the work, you can also enjoy these for a much longer time.

Things to Consider With Custom Kitchen Remodeling
Filed Under Articles | Comments Off
You might be thinking of custom kitchen remodeling. This is one of the best home improvement projects that any homeowner could ever think of. Then again, you should know that it is no simple project. There are so many things that you have to consider when you want to remodel.
Advantages
One of the first things that you have to look into is what remodeling can give you. You need to be certain that you can benefit from it. Otherwise you may end up spending more time and money on something you’ll regret. Here are some of the advantages of custom remodeling:
- The kitchen is one of the places that people most often go to just to relax and enjoy. With custom remodeling, you can create the ideal atmosphere in your kitchen. Your remodeled kitchen will reflect your very own unique taste.
- Customizing your kitchen will ensure that you get the exact size of fixtures and furniture where you want them to go. You no longer have to stick with a cabinet that sticks out too much or drawers that have to be trimmed just to fit in the available space. With custom kitchen remodeling, everything fits perfectly.
- Many custom remodeling companies will allow you to work within your budget. You don’t have to switch from one ready made option to another just to make sure you don’t go over your budget. With custom remodeling, your remodeling company or contractor will do the estimating for you.
Disadvantages
If there are great advantages to custom remodeling, there are also some disadvantages. You need to know about them too just to make sure that you still want to pursue remodeling.
- Although remodeling companies will consider your budget, it doesn’t mean that everything will come cheap. Custom-made cabinets and furniture will always cost a little more than those that are ready to install. This means you do have to prepare a sizable budget.
- Custom remodeling may also take some time and effort. With ready-made cabinets, all you have to do is to ***** in the bolts. Custom pieces however, have to be made according to your specifications. Depending on your design, your remodeling project could extend to a few weeks.
- One of the greatest disadvantages is getting a remodeling company that can’t do things exactly as you want them to. There are numerous companies out there so choosing just one won’t be so easy. You would have to spend a lot of time just looking for the perfect company or contractor.
Custom remodeling can be the best decision you will ever make. Your satisfaction however, depends largely on your ability to get a good remodeling company. Take the time to compare companies before settling for one. You can also look for home improvement site reviews and ask in forums for recommendations from actual clients.
Don’t hesitate to go into custom kitchen remodeling. Do remember though to think long and hard over your options. You only want what’s best for you and your kitchen.
